Kornfeld leads women's soccer past Oswego at home

A Quick Look
Senior Christina Kornfeld (Mount Sinai/Miller Place) netted one goal and added an assist to lead the SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout of Oswego at home today in SUNYAC action.
 
The Inside Story
Kornfeld scored the game's opening goal in the 17th minute when she collected a loose ball inside the box and put a shot by the Oswego (2-10, 0-4 SUNYAC) keeper.
 
Kornfeld added an assist on Oneonta's (5-3-3, 3-1 SUNYAC) second goal in the 34th minute.  Freshman Joie Tortorice (Melville/Walt Whitman) was on the receiving end of Kornfeld's pass where she blasted a shot from just inside the left corner of the box.
 
Today's scoring was capped eight minutes into the second half when sophomore Miquela Quiles (Mount Hope/Minisink Valley) posted her first goal of the season unassisted.
 
Just the Stats
Oneonta outshot Oswego 17-12 including 11-4 in the first half.  Twelve of Oneonta 17 shots were on frame.  Claire Lepper (Poland/Poland) played 65 minutes today in goal for the Red Dragons and recorded three saves to pick up her fourth win of the season.  Celeste Trevellini (Queens/World Journalism Prep) finished the match making no saves.
 
What's Next
Oneonta will host its rival SUNY Cortland tomorrow afternoon at home beginning at 1pm.
