New Paltz, NY – The women's swimming and diving team took on their conference rival the SUNY New Paltz Hawks and dropped a 113-85 decision moving the Red Dragon women to 3-2 on the season.
Notable results were turned in by Oneonta today when the 1650-yard freestyle was contested and found sophomore
Abby Miller (Oneonta/Oneonta) coming in first with a time of 19:23.56 with her teammate and runner-up junior
Samantha Immitti (Staten Island/Notre Dame Academy) just behind her with less than 30-seconds separating the Red Dragon duo.
Senior
Julia Llewellyn (East Islip/East Islip High School) turned in an impressive victory as she secured the top position with a time of 1:01.65 in the 100-yard butterfly. The New Paltz runner-up was just .45 seconds behind her in a very close race.
The last victory on the day for the Red Dragons happened in the 400-yard freestyle relay in the last contested event for the women on the afternoon when sophomore
Katherine London (Staten Island/St. Joseph Hill Academy), junior Kristen Van Anden, junior
Kelly Carey (Suffern/Suffern) and junior
Nicole Lapinski (Pine Push/Pine Bush) triumphed securing a time of 4:04.62.
The SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons will now prepare for their rivals SUNY Cortland. The meet will be contested on Saturday, February 2
nd beginning at 1 PM on the campus of SUNY Cortland.
