Men's basketball downed by No. 3 Williams College

The SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team traveled to No. 3 Williams College tonight and came out on the short end of a 73-54 decision.  The Red Dragons were led by sophomores Andres Rivera (Bronx, NY/Walton) (17 points, 11 rebounds) and Joseph Bull (Bronx, NY/Mount St. Michael Academy) (10 points, eight rebounds), as they fell to 8-8 overall.  The win for the Ephs raised its overall record to 16-2.

The two teams were tied after five minutes of play, but the Ephs would spend the next five minutes limiting the Red Dragons to only two points while scoring 12 of their own. The run would bring the score to 20-10 and result in a timeout for the Red Dragons with 10:16 left in the half.

After the timeout, the Red Dragons seemed to gain momentum, but a corner three from senior Kyle Scadlock and a four-point play by senior James Heskett would shift the momentum back in favor of the Ephs. The Ephs carried this momentum into a 40-23 lead over the Red Dragons at the end of the half.

The Ephs extended its lead with a 21-4 run to start the second half punctuated by a four-point play by sophomore Marc Taylor. The Ephs would maintain a hold over the Red Dragons for the remainder of the game and eventually would go on to win 73-54.

The Ephs finished the game shooting 54.2% from the field and knocked down 11 of 23 3-point attempts. Kyle Scadlock (19 points, eight rebounds), James Heskett (18 points, 5-7 3PT) and Bobby Casey (16 points, seven assists) led the Ephs in today's matchup.

The Red Dragons will look to avenge its overtime loss to New Paltz on Saturday when they host the Hawks beginning at 4pm.
