Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Corso's 21 leads women's basketball past Oswego

Junior Leanne Corso (Commack/Commack) scored a game-high 21 points tonight to lead the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team to a comfortable 65-52 victory against Oswego.  Corso was efficient making 7-of-8 from the field while converting 6-of-6 from the line, as the women raised its record to 12-2 overall and 6-1 in the SUNYAC.

Oneonta was very consistent tonight scoring 18 points in each of the first two quarters and then adding 15 points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth quarter.  The Red Dragons shot 36 percent from the floor for the game and made 13-of-14 free throws.

Oneonta's reserves contributed 18 points led by sophomore Clara Culeton's (Oswego/Oswego) six points.  Culeton also added four boards and three steals.

Oswego (2-12, 1-6 SUNYAC) led early 6-4 before an old fashioned three-point play by Corso gave Oneonta the lead for good.  By the end of the opening quarter, the Red Dragons had a lead of 18-14.

The Lakers had three players in double figures in the contest led by graduate student Rachael Windhausen's 13 points.  Junior Quincey Zimmerman added 12 points and sophomore Raiven Encarnacion contributed 11 points.  Oswego's strongest quarter was the final one where they outscored the Red Dragons 24-14.

Oneonta will travel to western New York to face Fredonia and Buffalo State in back-to-back SUNYAC contests.  The Red Dragons will face Buffalo State on Friday night at 5:30pm and Fredonia on Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
