Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's soccer suffers setback at Hamilton

Host Hamilton College scored midway through the first half and made it stand today in picking up a win against SUNY Oneonta in non-conference men's soccer action.  The loss for the Red Dragons drops them to 3-2-2 overall while the victory for the Continentals puts them at 4-1.

"Congrats to Hamilton," said Head Coach Iain Byrne.  "They put so much effort into the game, and for all our possession, we didn't work their goalkeeper enough."

The shots in the game for Oneonta totaled 13 in the match, but only four were registered on frame.

The Red Dragons generated to most dangerous chances early with one shot by Roberto Ventura (Brentwood/Brentwood) hitting the crossbar in the 13th minute and a second opportunity by Justin Cebollero (Commack/Commack) high off a corner kick five minutes later.

Four minutes later, Hamilton broke the deadlock on a goal by Bobby Chapman with assists coming from Aidan Wood and Jefri Schmidt.

Oneonta pressured during the final five minutes of the match, but couldn't squeeze the equalizer by the Hamilton keeper.  The Red Dragons final attempt came in the 87th minute when Ventura sent a shot wide right.

Oneonta will now prepare for its SUNYAC opener at home this Friday, Sep. 21 against Buffalo State beginning at 4pm.
