Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men’s Tennis takes down Oswego with a 9-0 shutout on senior day

Oneonta, NY – With a rare snowy date this late in the spring the Red Dragons were forced to go inside at the Oneonta Tennis Center and take on their SUNY foe from Oswego.  The Red Dragon men had a senior laden lineup and did not hold back as they shutout the Lakers 9-0.

Doubles play saw senior Tim Distler and senior Zach Lasky (Colonie/Colonie) move up to the top spot today and had some trouble early before finally breaking serve down 6-5 and then never looked back and scored an 8-6 win.  Second doubles saw senior James Garzia (Marcellus/Marcellus) move into this position for senior day joining senior Cole Laffitte (East Setauket/Ward Melville) and with just a slight hiccup at the beginning of the match they pulled away from the Oswego foes and scored an impressive win 8-2.  Third doubles was an entertaining match as senior Andrew Reiley (Manorville/Eastport) closed out his doubles career as a Red Dragon teaming up with his brother freshman Alexander Reiley (Manorville/Eastport) and went through the match handily 8-1 with Andrew closing out the match with a big service ace.

Singles and a 3-0 lead in the bucket were all the Red Dragons needed as they mounted up their wins on-route to a shutout.  The format today was shortened to a 10 game extended set in order to expedite the dual match on the indoor two court complex.  Lasky was almost perfect with a 10-1 drubbing of his Laker opponent.  Laffite moved up to the number two position and won handily with a 10-2 score.  Distler following up his doubles win on the day and a previous win the day prior against the # 16 TCNJ keeping up the momentum up and securing a 10-1 triumph.  Garzia with all of his family present played steady and consistent tennis and won 10-6 in the fourth position.  Andrew Reiley (Manorville/Eastport) closed out his senior home match doubling up his opponent 10-5.  Alexander Reiley (Manorville/Eastport) playing next to his brother today in the sixth spot had little trouble closing the match out with strong serves and crisp forehands on route to a 10-1 convincing win.

The Red Dragons now move to 8-11 on the year as they get ready to play their rival Union College tomorrow, Monday, April 30th which will be held inside at the YMCA Wilson Branch in Saratoga Springs, NY beginning at 6 PM.
