Ewing Township, NJ – The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team closed out its 2017-18 year with a road loss to the 16
th regionally ranked College of NJ (TCNJ) 9-0. TCNJ had too much depth and the Red Dragons could not match their firepower.
Without their number one player today the Red Dragons were also forced to adjust their lineup to try and matchup against their top ranked foe. In doubles senior
Samantha Felice (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) playing in her last career match normally plays in the second position joined with freshman
Julieta Eulau (Oceanside/Oceanside) at the top spot and played respectful tennis but bowed to their opponents 8-3. Eventually the Red Dragons were shutout of doubles scoring.
With a deficit of 3-0 going into the singles the Red Dragons could not put a dent into TCNJ's arsenal. Freshman
Mya Lipscomb (Peekskill/Walter Panas) played a close first set in the second position losing only by one break but she dropped the match 6-4, 6-1. The Red Dragons were shutout in singles play and settled for 9-0 setback on the day.
However, the Red Dragons finished the year at 13-8 having gotten to the semi-finals of the SUNYAC earlier in the year and had their best fall in team history. The Red Dragon women's tennis team will look to take the next step and challenge for a championship in the fall when they reconvene on August 21
st for training camp.
