SUNY Oneonta freshman 
Sophia Calabrese (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) tallied six goals today to lead the Red Dragons to a 14-11 victory against Scranton.  Calabrese scored her six goals on seven shots including converting 1-of-2 free position shots.  She now has 23 goals on the season for the Red Dragons who upped its overall record to 6-4-1.
 
A free position goal for each team got things started this afternoon.  Elena Gallo put Scranton (6-6) on top just 18 seconds into the contest before senior 
Jaime Morris (West Nyack/Clarkstown South) evened things up in the sixth minute.
 
Morris' goal was the start of six unanswered goals for the Red Dragons to put them in charge with a little more than 10 minutes to go in the opening half.  Calabrese and junior 
Kelsey Cohen (Baldwin/Baldwin) scored a pair during the run while freshman 
Jordan Ilchert (West Islip/West Islip) tallied a solo goal.
 
Sophomore 
Shannon Giddens (Franklin Square/H Frank Carey) capped the scoring in the first half with an unassisted goal in the 28
th minute to give Oneonta an 8-3 lead heading into halftime.
 
Gallo registered back-to-back goals to start the second half cutting the Royals' deficit to three goals at 8-5.
 
The Red Dragons then ripped off four consecutive goals including two more by Calabrese to push its lead back to seven goals at 12-5 with 10 minutes remaining in the game.  Ilchert scored from Morris and sophomore 
Victoria Varone (Commack/Commack) scored from freshman 
Christen Patalano (Mineola/Kellenberg Memorial) to account for the other two goals for Oneonta.
 
Calabrese's final goal of the game gave Oneonta its largest lead of eight goals with just over seven minutes left.
 
The Royals made the game interesting scoring the final five goals of the game including a pair by Jill Henson, who finished the game with four goals to lead Scranton.
 
Winning goalie 
Lexi Keen (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) made 12 saves today to record her fourth win of the season.  Erin Putnam made four stops for Scranton.
 
Scranton outshot Oneonta 31-25 in the game and won 18-of-27 draws.  Oneonta collected 26 ground balls to only 14 for the Royals.  Both teams converted four free position shots into goals.
 
Oneonta's home stand will continue this Saturday when they host Brockport on Red Dragon Field beginning at 1pm.
