Box Score Maryville, TN. The SUNY Oneonta baseball team dropped a nine inning matchup against the Maryville Scots 9-3. The Red Dragons dropped to 2-4 on the year, and the Scots improved to 14-2. For the Red Dragons sophomore Brandon LaVenture (Schenectady/Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) had a multi-hit game going 2-4 with a walk. Freshman Christopher Iametti (Suffern/Don Bosco Prep) scored a run on four walks for the Red Dragons.
 
Starting on the mound for the Red Dragons was senior Nicholas Ponesse (Newburgh/Valley Central). He pitched six innings only allowing five hits while walking two batters in the no decision effort.

The game took a turn in the bottom of the seventh inning with the scored knotted at 3-3. The inning started with back to back errors by Oneonta putting runners on first and second base. A sacrifice bunt was tossed away for the third error of the inning allowing the first run to score. Three hits and a wild pitch later the Scots had a 9-3 lead that they would hold until the end of the contest.

For the Scots, Zach Messinger earned the win to improve to 2-1 and for Oneonta RJ Lyman (Mohegan Lake/Walter Panas) took his first loss of the season to fall to 0-1.

The Red Dragons pick up their road trip in Fort Myers, FL against Finlandia University in a double header on Thursday, March 8^th.
