Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 Fort Myers, Fl. The SUNY Oneonta baseball team bested the Plattsburgh State Cardinals, 2-1 in a three game series. The Red Dragons improved to 2-1 in the SUNYAC and 6-5 overall and the Cardinals fell to 1-2 in the SUNYAC and 2-2 overall.

In the first game on Sunday the Red Dragons junior Takoda Sitar (Katonah/Somers) earned his first win of the season by a score of 7-4. The right-hander threw five innings while only allowing two hits and one earned run. He also fanned five hitters and walked four batters. Seniors Christopher DiDomizio (Cortlandt Manor/Lakeland) and James McCarty (Stony Brook/Chaminade) came in relief for the Red Dragons each pitching an inning while striking out a batter apeice.

Oneonta's offense was anchored by the first four hitters who combined for seven of the 10 Red Dragon hits. Senior Brandon Torres (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) filled the stats sheet by going 2-3 with a triple, three runs scored, a walk and a run batted in. Both junior Mickey Mullins (Vestal/Vestal) and classmate Dominic Lamonica (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) each had a pair of hits for the Red Dragons going 2-4.

In the second game of the day the Red Dragons needed 12 innings to earn the victory, 5-4. Senior McCarty came in relief for three innings to earn his first win of season to improve to 1-0. Senior Nicholas Ponesse (Newburgh/Valley Central) pitched seven innings only allowing three hits and a run in a no-decision effort.

On the offensive side of the ball, designated hitter Vincent Prisco (Northport/Saint Dominic) led Oneonta with a 3-6 effort including a pair of runs batted in. The game-winning run was scored in the top of the 12th when Mullins led the inning off with a double. Freshman Jonathan Lent (Hopewell Junction/John Jay East) sacrificed himself to move Mullins to third base, which led to a wild pitch that scored Mullins.

In Saturday's matchup the Red Dragons fell to the Cardinals 8-4. In the game Dalton Beatty (Atwater, CA/Atwater) scored a run and had a run batted in for the Red Dragons.

The Red Dragons next game is scheduled for Saturday March 17th against Montclair State at Yogi Berra Stadium.
