The SUNY Oneonta softball team bounced back to win three of its last four games in Arizona to finish 5-5 overall. The Red Dragons won its final three games of the trip defeating Bethany Lutheran, Rockford and Cornell College. Their only setback on the final two days was a loss to Trine University in their first game on Friday.

Trine 16, Oneonta 8
Oneonta plated four runs in the top of the first inning but gave it all back plus one in the bottom of the inning.

Junior
Dana Del Genio (New Hartford/New Hartford) led off the game with a triple and scored on a single by the next batter
Selena Ruiz (Westbury/W.T. Clarke).Â
Caroline Koch (New City/Clarkstown South) doubled in
Lauren Sabatino (Bayville/Locust Valley) before
Amanda Sexton (Port Jervis/Port Jervis) plated the final two runs with a double that scored
Cori McFall (Pleasant Valley/Arlington) and Koch.

Oneonta added single runs in the second and third innings to enter the bottom half of the third where Trine exploded for five runs once again to seize control of the game. The Red Dragons scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth, but Trine added five runs to end the game in the bottom of the inning.

McFall collected three hits while Del Genio, Ruiz, Sabatino, Koch and
Kristen Collins (Hicksville/Holy Trinity) all had two hits each.

Oneonta 15, Bethany Lutheran 7
A 16-hit attack paced Oneonta in its win against Bethany. The Red Dragons broke the game open in the third inning with a seven-spot to take a commanding 12-1 lead. The big hit in the third came off the bat of McFall who homered to drive in three runs. Collins also had a two-run single in the inning.

Ruiz went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Sabatino drove in a pair as did Collins and Meaghan Raliegh. Raliegh entered the game in the fourth inning and collected a double and a home run.

Sophomore
Alyssa Bluethgen (Commack/Commack) struck out three in 4 1/3 innings and picked up her second win of the season.

Oneonta 18, Rockford 0
The Oneonta offense feasted on Rockford pitching for 16 hits in this five-inning contest. Raliegh belted a triple and a home run and drove in three runs. Corbett collect three hits and drove in a pair of runs.Â
Jade Meehan (Halcottsville/Roxbury Central) and
Kaycee Simpson (Blossvale/Camden Central) each had two hits and combined to score five runs.

Julia Calabro (Wantagh/St. John the Baptist) scattered three hits and struck out four over her five innings of work and picked up her second win of the season.

Oneonta 7, Cornell College 3
The Red Dragons banged out 12 hits and Bluethgen went the distance striking out four batters. A three-run third inning gave Oneonta a 3-2 lead. RBI singles by Sabatino and Sexton brought Oneonta even before a bases loaded walk to Raliegh plated the go-ahead run.

Simpson hit a two-out triple to drive in a pair of runs in the fifth to push Oneonta's lead to 5-2. Sexton capped the scoring for the Red Dragons in the top of the seventh with a two-run home run.

Oneonta will have a week off before traveling to Muhlenberg for a scheduled doubleheader next Saturday beginning at 1pm.
