Sophomore
Casey Hayes (New Hyde Park/Sewanhaka) came off the bench to score a collegiate high 15 points today in leading the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team to a 61-42 victory at Buffalo State. The win for Oneonta was its fourth straight and raises its overall record to 15-6 and 10-4 in the SUNYAC. The loss for the Bengals dropped them to 8-13 overall and 5-10 in conference play.

In 19 minutes, Hayes was 7-for-11 from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds. Classmate
Leanne Corso (Commack/Commack) was also in double figures for the Red Dragons today with 13 points while also pulling down seven boards.

Oneonta pretty much led the whole game with the exception of being tied 2-2 in the first minute of the game. A three-pointer by junior
Teresa Anken (Rome/Rome Free Academy) broke the tie and Oneonta led after one quarter 12-11.

The Red Dragons controlled the pace in the second quarter and built itself a 32-21 lead at the break. Hayes led the way with 11 points in the first half while Corso, Anken and sophomore
Olivia Allrich (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) combined for 18 points.

After an evenly played third quarter, Oneonta secured the win outscoring the Bengals 17-9. The Red Dragons dominated in all areas of the game including 26 points in the paint and 15 points off turnovers.

Maya Bernsley (Monroe/Monroe Woodbury) came off the bench to score nine points in 13 minutes. Oneonta's reserves combined for 33 points in today's game. The Red Dragons outrebounded the Bengals 47-37 including 10 boards from junior
Madeline Frank (Syracuse/Jamesville-Dewitt).

Oneonta will be on the road again next weekend at Geneseo and Brockport. The Red Dragons are currently in a three-way tie for second place in the SUNYAC with four games remaining in the regular season.
