A penalty kick conversion by Rachel Walsh in the 31
st minute of the match stood up today, as the visiting SUNY Geneseo Knights left town with a narrow 1-0 victory against host SUNY Oneonta in SUNYAC women's action on Red Dragon Field. The loss for the Red Dragons dropped them to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in conference play while the Knights remained atop the conference with its 5-0 record.

A foul called just inside the box stopped the clock at 30:14 into the match. Walsh stepped up for Geneseo (8-2-1) to take the kick and buried a shot into the lower right corner of the goal. For Walsh, it was her first goal of the season.

The Knights held a clear advantage in shots during the first 45 minutes, outshooting Oneonta 11-1.

Jolene Krom (Sidney/Sidney) started the game for Oneonta and made six saves in her half of action.Â
Claire Lepper (Poland/Poland) played the second half and recorded a pair of saves.

The match was played even in the second half with both squads recording five shots each. Oneonta's best chance to tie the game came in the 69
th minute on a play that developed with a long crossing pass from the right wing. Sophomore
Micaela Honsinger (New Hartford/New Hartford) was on the back post and settled the ball before getting a shot off, but Emily Janiszewski, who was on her side, made a kick save.
