Four players reached double figures today, as the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team handled Oswego at home 69-48. The junior tandem of
Teresa Anken (Rome/Rome Free Academy) and
Madeline Frank (Syracuse/Jamesville-Dewitt) scored 16 and 14 points respectively while sophomores
Alexa Amalbert (Nanuet/Nanuet) and
Olivia Allrich (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) added 10 points apiece.

Oswego (4-9, 1-5 SUNYAC) put together its best quarter to open the game holding an 18-17 lead entering the second quarter. Senior Courtney Ameele and junior Rachael Windhausen scored all the points for the Lakers in the quarter with 10 and eight points respectively. Ameele led all scorers in the game with 20 points while Windhausen finished with 20 points.

After falling behind 6-0 in the first four minutes, Oneonta (9-4, 4-2 SUNYAC) started its push. Frank hit back-to-back jumpers to get things going for the Red Dragons. Sophomore
Casey Hayes (New Hyde Park/Sewanhaka) made a pair of layups and senior
Samantha Lisikatos (Cold Spring/Haldane) made a jumper to give Oneonta a 10-9 lead at the 4:11 mark of the quarter. Anken buried a three to end the quarter and bring the Red Dragons to within one point.

Oneonta clamped down defensively while putting 19 points on the scoreboard in the second quarter to grab a 36-27 lead heading into halftime. Anken scored eight of her 16 points in the quarter.

Oswego made a run early at Oneonta in the third quarter cutting its deficit to six points. Oneonta reestablished control with a 13-3 burst to take a commanding 49-33 lead with just over five minutes to go in the quarter.

Oneonta took advantage of a 1-14 shooting performance in the final quarter by the Lakers and pulled away en route to its 21-point win.

The Red Dragons had 20 assists on 24 baskets today led by Amalbert's five dimes. Oneonta also collected 12 steals led by Frank who had three thefts.

Oneonta will be home next Saturday, Jan. 13 for a matchup with New Paltz beginning at 1pm.
