After nearly a week off between games, the SUNY Oneonta softball team got back to work out west with a doubleheader sweep of Fredonia. The Red Dragons had to go extra innings before prevailing in game 1, 5-1, before taking the second game 8-6.

Senior
Sabrina DeAngelis (East Meadow/Kellenberg Memorial) had a no-no entering the bottom of the sixth before giving way to classmate
Amanda Graziano (Riverhead/Riverhead) who picked up her fifth win of the season. Freshman
Alyssa Bluethgen (Commack/Commack ) relieved Graziano in game 2 and picked up her second win of the season while classmate
Julia Calabro (Wantagh/St. John the Baptist) picked up her second save of the season striking the two batters she faced in the bottom of the seventh.

Seniors
Katie O'Gorman (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) and
Marlene Cuevas (Wappingers Falls/Roy C. Ketcham), sophomore
Dana Del Genio (New Hartford/New Hartford) and freshman
Brooke Corbett (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central/Delmar) all had two hits each in the opener. Corbett followed in the nightcap with three hits as did sophomore
Selena Ruiz (Westbury/W.T. Clarke). O'Gorman cracked her team-leading fifth home run of the season in the second game.

Game 1 – Oneonta 5, Fredonia 1 (8 innings)
Oneonta (14-4, 4-2 SUNYAC) was riding the arm of DeAngelis in the opener before the Blue Devils tied the game at 1-1 in their last at-bat.

Oneonta scored its first run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by O'Gorman. Senior
Jennifer Brocco (Kingston/Kingston) earned a walk with two outs before getting to second base on a single by Corbett and then came around to score on O'Gorman's hit.

Sophomore
Lauren Sabatino (Bayville/Locust Valley) led off the top of the eighth with a single before moving the third on a one-out double by Cuevas. After a fielder's choice loaded the bases, sophomore
Cori McFall (Pleasant Valley/Arlington) knocked in the first run with a single, which was followed by another single by Brocco to drive in the second run. O'Gorman came through with a two-out single to score the final two runs of the inning.

Game 2 – Oneonta 8, Fredonia 6
Both offenses were on in the second game combing for 21 hits. A four-run third inning for Oneonta gave them the runs they needed as they held off a late rally by the Blue Devils.

Freshman
Kate Jencarelli (Roseland, NJ/West Essex ) drove in both Sabatino and Del Genio in the top of the first giving the Red Dragons the early lead. Fredonia came back with two runs of its own in the home half of the inning to leave the game tied at 2-2 heading to the second.

Oneonta scored a pair of unearned runs in the second inning before putting up their four spot in the third. Corbett drove in a pair while the other two runs came in on O'Gorman's home run to center field.

Fredonia's final two runs came in the fifth as they took advantage of a throwing error to score unearned.
