Game 1 – Oneonta 8, Potsdam 2
Sophomore
Dana Del Genio (New Hartford/New Hartford) got Oneonta on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning when she hit a sharp single to center field that scored classmate
Selena Ruiz (Westbury/W.T. Clarke), who had reached on a error.
Â
The Red Dragons took advantage of a couple of Potsdam miscues in the third inning that led to a pair of unearned runs. Del Genio reached on a muffed throw that allowed senior
Katie O'Gorman (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) to score while Del Genio came around to score on an RBI single by freshman
Kate Jencarelli (Roseland, NJ/West Essex ).
Â
Potsdam scored its two runs in the sixth inning when pinch hitter Day Stevens hit a shot that just missed going out driving in two runs with a stand up double.
Â
The final runs for Oneonta came in the home half of the sixth inning. The big blow was a bases-clearing double by Del Genio that plated freshmen
Rebecca Wentink (Maybrook/Valley Central) and
Brooke Corbett (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central/Delmar) along with senior
Jennifer Brocco (Kingston/Kingston) all scoring unearned.
Â
Game 2 – Oneonta 11, Potsdam 3 (5 innings)

Â
Potsdam's lead was short lived as the Red Dragons exploded for eight runs in its half of the first. Ruiz, O'Gorman and
Cori McFall (Pleasant Valley/Arlington) all drove in a pair of runs to fuel the attack. Del Genio and Jencarelli each added an RBI.
Â
Oneonta added two more runs in the fourth inning to increase its lead to 10-3. Del Genio reached on a fielder's choice to drive in sophomore
Kaycee Simpson (Blossvale/Camden Central) for the first run of the inning. Simpson walked, stole second and went to third on a ground out before scoring. After stealing second base, Del Genio benefitted from a pair of wild pitches to score the second run.
Â
Del Genio ended the game when she drove a double down the right field line to score Simpson with the game-ending run. Del Genio finished the day with four hits and seven runs batted in.
