Women's lacrosse drops road game at nationally ranked Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The No. 12/18 College at Brockport women's lacrosse team took on SUNY Oneonta on Saturday in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play, extinguishing the Red Dragons, 16-5.

The Golden Eagles improve to 10-1 in 2017 and remain unbeaten in conference play with a mark of 4-0, while the Red Dragons fall to 6-5 on the year and 2-2 in the SUNYAC.

The Golden Eagles opened the contest with four straight goals, with four different players connecting. Hannah Cullen got things started, with Andrea Zlinsky, Jessica Boddery and Kelly Wall all finding the back of the cage for the early 4-0 edge with 17:40 to play.

Brockport would find themselves trading goals with the Red Dragons for the next six scores, as Boddery, Heather Conklin and Jillian Babinsky provided answers to the Oneonta goals, holding to a 7-3 lead heading into the half.

Freshman Erin Fowler (East Meadow/East Meadow), senior Katie Flannery (Massapequa/Plainedge) and junior Taylor Casey (Garden City South/Kellenberg Memorial) scored for Oneonta in the first half.

In the second frame the Green and Gold came out of the gate firing, tacking on three scores with Conklin, Boddery and Cullen each working in goals to push the Golden Eagles to a 10-3 edge.

Casey tallied twice in the second half to give her three for the game.  She now has 30 goals on the season.

The Green and Gold dominated the contest in all categories, with an edge in shots (30-15), shots on goal (28-11), ground balls (19-13), draw controls (13-10) and free-position shots (9-4). The Golden Eagles also forced 21 Red Dragon turnovers and went 16-for-18 in clears.

Oneonta will play again on the road Tuesday against rival SUNY Cortland beginning at 4pm.
