ONEONTA, NY. SUNY Oneonta Baseball took down Mount Saint Mary's 13-3 in a mid-week regional match up. The Red Dragons improved to 10-11 and the Knights fell to 4-19. Sophomore
Steven Gerringer (LaGrangeville/Arlington ) improved to 1-1 on the season after pitching 6.0 innings and allowing no earned runs.
Junior
Brandon Torres (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) led the offensive charge for the Red Dragons by going 3-5 including a leadoff triple to start the game. He scored when senior
Sean Mullins (Vestal/Vestal) grounded out to third base, giving the Red Dragons a 1-0.
The Red Dragons had a scare in the top of the third inning committing four errors, which put Gerringer in a hole. Gerringer handled the situation with pose getting the final two outs of the inning with runners in scoring position.
The Red Dragons put up a crooked number in the 5
th inning, scoring five runs all with two outs.
Donald Geloso (Staten Island/Monsignor Farrell) singled to the drive in
Dalton Beatty (Atwater/Atwater) with the first run of the inning. With the bases loaded,
James Ceparano (Melville/Half Hollow Hills East) tripled to deep left center field to score all three base runners. Torres lined sharply past third base to score Ceparano to give the Red Dragons a 8-2 lead.
Oneonta takes on New Paltz this weekend in a three game set. The first game is set to start at 3:00pm on Friday, and the doubleheader will start at noon on Saturday.
