In their final regular season home game, it was the seniors that led the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball to a 56-48 win against visiting Plattsburgh today. Seniors
Sara DiPasquale (Buffalo, NY/Cardinal O'Hara),
Brianna Spector (Philadelphia, PA/Upper Dublin) and
Kathryn Polletta (Ossining/Ossining) combined to score 31 of the 56 points in the contest. DiPasquale found her spot in the low post and scored a collegiate high 16 points to lead the trio. Polletta made four shots from behind the arc and scored 12 points while Spector added three points.

With the victory, Oneonta (15-10, 12-6 SUNYAC) secured the No. 3 spot for the conference tournament that begins on Tuesday night. The Red Dragons will host Brockport scheduled to tip-off at 7:30pm. Admission is $5 general, $3 children 5-12, and free to children under five and SUNY students with their college ID.

Oneonta scored the first seven points of the game thanks to a pair of layups by DiPasquale. The Red Dragons never trailed in the first quarter despite a run by Plattsburgh (10-15, 6-12 SUNYAC) and, after a three-pointer at the buzzer by junior
Samantha Lisikatos (Cold Spring/Haldane), grabbed a 16-11 lead.

Plattsburgh started the second quarter with an 8-2 outburst to gain its only lead of the game at 19-18. Moe Jones gave the Cardinals the lead at the 7:41 mark. Jones finished the game with 11 points and six rebounds.

After the two teams exchanged possessions without a basket, Polletta buried a trey to give Oneonta the lead back at 21-19. The Red Dragons closed the quarter with seven unanswered to take a 32-22 lead into halftime.

The Cardinals had its best quarter of the game in the third outscoring Oneonta 14-9, which cut the hosts' lead in half heading to the final quarter. Jax Miller and Bella DePasquale hit back-to-back three pointers to fuel and 8-0 run that brought them close at 37-36. DePasquale led all scorers in the game with 20 points connecting on six shots from behind the arc.

The Red Dragons scored the final four points of the quarter on baskets by freshmen
Casey Hayes (New Hyde Park/Sewanhaka) and
Alexa Amalbert (Nanuet/Nanuet) giving them a 41-36 at the end of the third.

Oneonta withstood one final run by the Cardinals late in the fourth quarter where they pulled to within four points with 1:09 remaining. The dagger for Oneonta was a three by Polletta with 45 seconds left and the shot clock winding down.

Oneonta's bench turned in a solid effort today with 23 points. Hayes led the reserves with eight points.

Oneonta outrebounded Plattsburgh 46-40 including 17-9 off the offensive glass. DiPasquale was the leader with nine boards including four offensive.
