Kathryn Polletta (Ossining/Ossining) scored a career high 18 points off the bench to spark the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball in a 67-44 victory against SUNY Potsdam tonight in SUNYAC action. Polletta hit 6-of-9 from the floor including 5-of-6 from behind the arc. She also collected eight rebounds and three assists.

Polletta led a group of reserves that tallied 38 points in the contest. Freshman
Casey Hayes (New Hyde Park/Sewanhaka) had her best night of her rookie season with 10 points in 12 minutes of action.

Potsdam (3-20, 1-16 SUNYAC) led 6-5 midway through the opening quarter until a layup by freshman
Leanne Corso (Commack/Commack) gave Oneonta (14-10, 11-6 SUNYAC) the lead for good. Corso finished the game with 16 points and a game high 14 rebounds.

Polletta buried a pair of threes to extend Oneonta's lead to 14-6 before Corso added a layup to give the Red Dragons a 16-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Polletta stayed hot with two more three-pointers to start the second quarter increasing the lead to 16 points (22-6). Â Oneonta continued its onslaught and took a 35-14 lead into intermission.

Potsdam's only run came early in the third period when they scored 10 unanswered points to get to within 35-24 with 6:51 left in the quarter. Freshman Drew Dufrane scored the final eight points of the run. Dufrane finished the game with 23 points to lead all scorers.

Oneonta closed the third quarter with the final four points that carried over into the final period where the run finally ended at 15 straight, which put the game well out of reach for the Bears.

Oneonta collected a season high 58 rebounds including 19 off the offensive glass.

Oneonta will play again tomorrow at home when they host Plattsburgh at 4pm in their senior game.
