Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Madeline Frank's career high 21 points leads women's basketball past Potsdam

Sophomore records first collegiate double-double

The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team overcame an eight-point halftime deficit and picked up a 67-50 road win at SUNY Potsdam today.  The Red Dragons turned up the intensity on defense and made the most of the turnovers they caused while controlling the paint.  Sophomore Madeline Frank (Syracuse/Jamesville-Dewitt) led the comeback effort with a career high 21 points while grabbing 12 rebounds to record her first collegiate double-double.

Oneonta (12-7, 9-3 SUNYAC) outscored Potsdam (2-16, 1-12 SUNYAC) 21-13 in the third period to erase its halftime deficit and start the final period even with the Bears.  In the fourth, the Red Dragons completely control the game enroute to a decisive 26-9 closing 10 minutes.

Oneonta opened the third period with 10 unanswered points to grab a 30-28 lead.  Frank and senior Sara DiPasquale (Buffalo, NY/Cardinal O'Hara) each had four points to lead the run.  The Red Dragons trailed one last time 39-37 before battling back to tie the score at 41 apiece at the end of the third period.

Oneonta opened the final period with a 13-4 run to create some breathing room.  The Red Dragons used a balanced attack to assert its control.  Potsdam had no answers over the final 3:15, as Oneonta closed out the game with one final 13-5 burst to secure its fifth straight win.

Oneonta trailed 14-11 after the first period of play struggling from the field.  Their struggles continued in the second period finding themselves trailing 28-20 at halftime.

Oneonta's reserves contributed 15 points in today's win led by freshman Casey Hayes (New Hyde Park/Sewanhaka) who had six points in 11 minutes of action.

Joining Frank in double figures today for the Red Dragons was senior Cara Adams (Attleboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) who scored 15 points.

Oneonta will play next this upcoming Friday night against Buffalo State as they play the first of six home games to end the regular season.
