New Paltz, Â NY Â - The SUNY Oneonta women's swimming & diving took their first loss of the year at New Paltz yesterday 141-118.
There were several highlights for the Red Dragons. The first win on the afternoon came in the seventh event as sophomore
Julia Llewellyn (East Islip/East Islip High School) scored a triumph in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.58 just .34 seconds ahead of the New Paltz runner-up. Llewellyn was also in the winner's circle in the 200 yard butterfly timing in at 2:17.98 which was almost five seconds ahead of runner-up junior
Casey Signorelli (Massapequa/Massapequa). Llewellyn had quite an afternoon picking up a third win in the 200 yard individual medley scoring a victory with a time of 2:18.72 while her teammate freshman
Ally Federman (Delmar/Bethlehem) finished in the runner-up position.
In the 400 yard freestyle relay the Red Dragons scored another win when Federman, freshman
Kelly Carey (Suffern/Suffern), Loforte and senior
Sarah Greco (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) teamed together and timed in at 3:54.18 with Oneonta relay teams also coming in second and third dominating event number 27and the last event of the afternoon.
The women's swimming and diving team will have another week off before heading to SUNY Cortland in a pool battle of the Red Dragons on Saturday, January 28th beginning at 1 PM.
