The SUNY Oneonta men certainly know how to play the full 40 minutes and tonight it paid off once again with a come-from-behind victory against its rival Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland. Oneonta trailed by as many as 18 points in the first half, but a big second half got them over the top en route to an 83-64 win in SUNYAC action. The win for Oneonta gives them the season sweep and raises its overall record to 9-6 and 6-2 in the conference. The loss for the visiting Red Dragons dropped them to 11-5 overall and 6-3 in the SUNYAC.

A three-point play by Cortland's Carrel Joseph tied the game at 62 apiece with exactly six minutes remaining in the contest, and from that point on, it was all Oneonta. The host Red Dragons seized control of the game to the tune of a game-ending 21-2 run that left its rival in the dust. The only basket during the final six-minute stretch was scored by Joseph at the four-minute mark. Joseph led his team with 19 points.

The senior duo of
Mikey McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) and
Lawrence Coleman (Croton on the Hudson/Hendrick Hudson) along with a couple of clutch threes from freshman
Kevin Mackin (Nanuet/Nanuet) fueled the end-of-game domination. McElroy and Coleman each scored 24 points to lead all scorers. Coleman also added 10 boards to record his seventh double-double of the season.

Oneonta finished the game shooting 57 percent from the floor including 60 percent in the second half. The hosts dominated in the paint outscoring the visitors 42-24. Oneonta blocked five shots including three by senior
Jack Kolosky (Fishkill/Our Lady of Lourdes), who also added a game high 13 rebounds to go with nine points.

Cortland didn't miss too many shots in the first half, as they built themselves an 18-point lead with 3:10 to go after Justin Cooper made a layup to give them a 41-23 lead.

Oneonta countered with 12 unanswered points to close out the opening twenty minutes, which carried over into the beginning of the second half with four more points to get them to within a bucket at 41-39.

A layup by Coleman at the 16:07 mark tied the game at 46 apiece before Cortland got back on top three minutes later at 55-49.

Oneonta continued to battle and actually took the lead 56-55 on a three-pointer by McElroy at 10:58. Oneonta continued to hold the lead before Joseph's three-point play tied the score for the final time.

Oneonta will begin a four-game road trip this weekend with back-to-back SUNYAC games at Buffalo State and Fredonia.
