Box Score 4 The Red Dragons go 1-3 as they open up the season at the North Country Season Opener Tournament. The Red Dragons win came in the second match against St. Lawrence College.
 In the first match of the season the Red Dragons would drop a thriller to the Clarkson University Golden Knights. The Red Dragons would drop the first set (25-12), but would rally in the second win 25-23 to even the match. The Golden Knights would take the third set (25-11) for an advantage of 2-1 in the match, but the Red Dragons would answer with a fourth set victory (25-19) to force a fifth set.
 In the fifth set, the Red Dragons were leading by five points late (12-7, 13-8) before the Golden Knights made a push and would win the final set (18-16) and the match.
For the Red Dragons two players reached double figures in kills, with seniors
Paige Carpluk (Yaphank/Bellport) producing 12 and
Erika Corbin (Kirkwood/Windsor) tossing in 10. Sophomore
Constance Krause (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) also had nine kills and senior teammate
Jessica Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson) had 37 assists and 10 digs. Carpluk and junior
Sara Feldman (Smithtown/Smithtown East) each had 11 digs to lead the Red Dragons.
For the Golden Knights
Rachael Aird finished with 26 kills and a .340 hitting percentage to go along with three blocks and five digs.
Rachel Reusch scored eight kills with just one error in 15 swings and
Katrina Lane contributed nine kills.
In the Red Dragons lone win this weekend they swept St. Lawrence. Senior
Paige Carpluk (Yaphank/Bellport) had eight kills and classmate
Jessica Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson) had 18 assists with 11 digs for the Oneonta. Junior
Sara Feldman (Smithtown/Smithtown East) had a team high 15 digs.
The Red Dragons would drop a pair the final day of the tournament to fall to 1-3 on the season. The Red Dragons are on the road next weekend at Union College as they take on Ramapo, Middlebury, Williams and Skidmore College at the Union College Invitational. Â
