Alana Green (Pittsford/Pittsford) and freshman Jacqueline Guidice were too much for the Rams as they dominated the net and held serve throughout the match winning 8-3. Â The number three team of sophomore
Faith Haedrich (Islip/Islip) and junior
Samantha Felice (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) doubled up their opponents also with dominant net play securing the 8-4 triumph.
In singles, numbers one, two, four, five and six all won in straight sets. Â Green had a tough second set in her first flight match but held on for the 6-3, 7-5 win. Â Guidice at second singles was flawless and shutout her opponent with a double bagel 6-0, 6-0. Haedrich in her match at fourth singles won the first set easily 6-0 but handled the second set onslaught from her opponent when she fell behind 1-4 but came storming back and won the second set 7-5 and secured her straight set win. Kayla Houle (Apalachin/Owego Free Academy) played a tight first set and then shut her opponent out in the second and took home a 6-3, 6-0 victory. Â The final match of the day was at the sixth flight and Felice also won in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.
A quick turnaround and return trip to Oneonta will find the Red Dragon women playing Elmira College on Saturday, September 24th at noon at the Heissan Tennis Courts on the campus of SUNY Oneonta.
