Eleven second half goals propelled the SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team to a 15-8 victory at New Paltz today in Catskill Cup action. The win for Oneonta (6-9, 3-4 SUNYAC) just may have clinched the victory for the Red Dragons in its yearlong rivalry series that began this year.

Taylor Casey (Garden City South/Kellenberg Memorial) led the second half explosion with six of her team high seven points, as Oneonta overcame a 5-4 halftime deficit. The Red Dragons opened the second half with five unanswered goals to take control of the contest. Oneonta closed the game with four unanswered goals for the final margin of victory.

New Paltz (3-12, 0-7 SUNYAC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first eight minutes thanks to a pair of goals by Alexa Criollo.

Oneonta battled back to tie the game with four consecutive goals including back-to-back scores by freshman
Kelsey Cohen (Baldwin/Baldwin) that evened the game at 4-4. Another goal by Criollo with 3:48 remaining gave the Hawks its slim one-goal lead heading into the break.

Allison Butler (Queensbury/Queensbury) contributed three goals and two assists while senior
Catherine Clark (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) (3g, 1a) and Cohen (2g, 2a) each added four points.

Oneonta will close out the regular season this Saturday at SUNY Geneseo scheduled for a 1pm start. The Red Dragons have clinched a SUNYAC tournament spot, but will not know where they will play its first round game until after Saturday's contest. The Conference tournament begins next Tuesday with first round games. The semifinals and finals will be at SUNY Cortland on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7.
