The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team was defeated today, 11-7, at Potsdam in the SUNYAC opening game for both squads. The Red Dragons are now 4-4 overall while the Bears move to 7-1 overall.

The Bears scored the first five goals of the game and took a 5-1 lead heading into the second quarter. Eric Soderquist scored a natural hat-trick out of the gate, en route to notching five goals overall.

Senior
Daniel King (Hauppauge/Hauppauge) finally got Oneonta on the scoreboard with 2:03 remaining in the opening quarter with an assist from freshman Jimmy Kickel. Kickel finished today's contest with four helpers while adding a goal.

The second quarter was quiet with Oneonta scoring the only two goals to cut Potsdam's lead to 5-3 heading into halftime. Sophomore
Nathan Doody (Tully/Tully) and Kickel scored for the Red Dragons.

The Bears turned the tide in the third quarter with three goals and allowing none to Oneonta. Matt Moran scored his second of the game while Brian Martin added a man-up goal followed by Soderquist's fourth of the game.

The two teams combined for seven goals in the final period with four going to the Red Dragons. Freshman
Matt Miles (North Massapequa/Plainedge) scored a pair while King notched his second of the contest before senior
Connor Coyle (Centerport/Harborfields) scored his team-leading 13
th of the season.

Ryan Adler (Smithtown/Smithtown West) had nine saves in the game for Oneonta and he was matched by Potsdam goalie Pete Gropp.

Oneonta will travel to Troy, NY on Tuesday for a non conference tilt with Rensselaer beginning at 4pm.
