Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's lacrosse downed by Brockport

The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team was defeated today by visiting Brockport 15-6.  The loss for the Red Dragons was its fourth straight, as they remained winless in the SUNYAC.  The win for the Golden Eagles raised its overall record to 11-2 and 4-1 in the SUNYAC.

Brockport won the opening faceoff and scored its first goal 16 seconds into the contest.  Michael Gallagher scored his third goal of the season unassisted.

After a goal by John Countryman gave the Golden Eagles a two-goal lead, senior Connor Coyle (Centerport/Harborfields) got Oneonta (4-7/0-3 SUNYAC) on the scoreboard with an unassisted extra man goal at 10:55.

Brockport scored back-to-back to push its lead to 4-1 before an extra man goal by sophomore Alec Solomito (Holtsville/Sachem East) cut the Golden Eagles' lead in half.

Brockport held a 5-2 lead after the first period and a 6-3 lead at halftime.

The two teams each scored three goals in the third quarter making the score 9-6 entering the final quarter.  Sophomore Nathan Doody (Tully/Tully), senior Daniel King (Hauppauge/Hauppauge) and Solomito each scored for the Red Dragons in the quarter.  King and Solomito assisted on each others goals.

Unfortunately, six goals would be the final tally of the day for Oneonta, as Brockport ran away in the fourth quarter scoring six goals in the final quarter.

Oneonta will have the week off before getting back into action next Saturday when they host SUNY Geneseo in its final home game of the season beginning at 1pm.
