The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team played the first of two contests scheduled in Puerto Rico today against Meredith College and came away on the short end of a 17-13 score. Junior
Catherine Clark (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) scored four goals to lead the offense, but a 10-goal second half for Meredith was the difference.

Oneonta rolled to a 4-0 lead in the opening five minutes of the game. Clark, along with senior
Rebecca Fildes (Red Hook/Red Hook), junior
Heather Fitzpatrick (Plainview/Plainview JFK) and sophomore
Jaime Morris (West Nyack/Clarkstown South) each scored for the Red Dragons.

Meredith countered with five unanswered to grab a 5-4 lead with 12:59 to go in the opening half. Molly Miller scored a pair while adding an assist.

Oneonta came back with three straight goals including a pair by Clark to regain the lead at 7-5 with just over six minutes to go in the half.

Carlee Joseph then notched back-to-back goals for Meredith to knot the score at seven apiece entering halftime.

The two teams would spend the first 15 minutes of the second half exchanging goals.

Trailing 12-11, Meredith scored five straight goals to take a 16-12 lead with 3:49 remaining in the contest. Miller once again led the charge with two goals and two assists.

Oneonta's final goal would come at the 2:44 mark by Clark unassisted.

Freshman goalie
Jaclyn Marry (Long Beach/Long Beach) made 11 saves in the game for Oneonta while her counterpart, Katherine Sills, made seven saves.

Oneonta will conclude its Puerto Rico trip with a game against Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.
