Nathan Doody (Tully/Tully) scored four goals and added one assist in leading the SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team to a 14-8 victory last night against Eastern Connecticut in the season opener for the Red Dragons. Oneonta's offense overwhelmed the Warriors, as they took control of the contest in the middle two periods.

Oneonta scored the game's opening three goals including a pair by Doody. Senior midfielder
Patrick Colligan (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) added a goal to cap the run. Senior
Robert Neubert (Lake Ronkonkoma/Sachem East) assisted on all three goals for Oneonta.

Eastern Connecticut (1-1) ended the opening period with back-to-back goals to pull within 3-2 entering the second period.

Over the second and third periods, The Red Dragons scored five unanswered goals to push its lead to 8-2 entering the fourth period. Doody collected a pair of man-up scores while senior
Connor Coyle (Centerport/Harborfields) and sophomores
Alec Solomito (Holtsville/Sachem East) and
Nick Schuman (Webster/Webster Thomas) each added single goals.

After a man-up goal to open the fourth period by Michael Dellanno of Eastern, Coyle pumped in back-to-back scores to give Oneonta a 10-3 advantage. Solomito and Colligan each added two more goals in the period to round out the scoring.

Senior
Ryan Adler (Smithtown/Smithtown West) collected seven saves to pick up his initial win of the 2016 season.

Oneonta will now journey to Maryland to train and compete during the next week. On Monday, the Red Dragons will face Washington College and, next Saturday, they will play at McDaniel College.
