Mikey McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) and junior
Lawrence Coleman (Croton on the Hudson/Hendrick Hudson) combined for 45 points to lead the SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team to an 84-68 road win at SUNY Potsdam today. The Red Dragons shot just under 51 percent from the field (32-63), as the salvaged a weekend split in the North Country.

After falling behind 5-0 in the opening two minutes of today's game, Oneonta (13-7/8-5) settled in and began to take control. The Red Dragons assumed its lead at 9-8 on a layup by Coleman at the 15:01 mark and never looked back.

By midway through the first half, Oneonta pushed its lead to double digits for the first time on an
Ian Schupp (New Hampton/Goshen) three-pointer. Schupp made three from behind the arc in today's game to finish with nine points off the bench.

The last time that Oneonta's lead was in single digits was at the 6:58 mark. From that point, the Red Dragons outscored the Bears 16-8 to take a 48-31 lead into halftime.

Coleman scored 13 of his 20 points in the opening half while McElroy scored 16 of his game high 25 points in the second half.

Oneonta's reserves contributed 26 points in today's win led by Schupp. Junior
Jack Kolosky (Fishkill/Our Lady of Lourdes) added six points while senior
Kareem Williams (Bronx/IN-Tech Academy) grabbed six boards to go with a pair of buckets in 13 minutes.

Oneonta will host rival SUNY Cortland Tuesday night in part two of the "Battle of the Red Dragons". Oneonta will try to avenge its defeat a week ago to Cortland. Tipoff for Tuesday's game is scheduled for 7:30pm.
