The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team couldn't hold on to its halftime lead today in a 48-40 loss at SUNY Geneseo. The Red Dragons were held to just 14 points in the final two periods dropping its first SUNYAC game of the season.

Leanne Corso (Commack/Commack) led Oneonta (4-2, 1-1 SUNYAC) with her first collegiate double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, which led everyone. Senior
Cara Adams (Attleboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) added 11 points.

The Red Dragons led for the entire first half building its lead to as many as 11 points late in the second period. Back-to-back three-pointers by Kelsey Poplawski pulled Geneseo (6-0, 2-0 SUNYAC) to within five points going into halftime trailing 26-21.

Corso paced Oneonta through the opening half with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. As a team, the Red Dragons shot 45 percent from the floor in the opening two periods.

Geneseo tied the game at 26 apiece at the 7:15 mark of the third period on a layup by Katie Vienneau. The two teams exchanged the lead midway through the period before a layup by Nicole Kaczmarczyk gave Geneseo a 32-29 lead that they would carry into the final stanza. Oneonta's shooting went cold in the period, as they only scored three points.

A three by Adams at 3:25 of the final period brought Oneonta to within one point at 37-36, but Geneseo countered with a five-point spurt that spurred an 11-4 run to end the game.

Oneonta will be home on Tuesday night for a SUNYAC game against Oswego beginning at 7:30pm.
