Oneonta, NY (Hartwick College) Â - Â The Hartwick College Hawks won city bragging rights defeating the women's swimming and diving team by a final score of 162-125 yesterday.
The day started off on a high note for the Red Dragons in the 200-yard medley relay as junior
Hannah Dari (Piermont/Clarkstown South), freshman
Kelly Carey (Suffern/Suffern), sophomore
Julia Llewellyn (East Islip/East Islip High School) and senior
Sarah Greco (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) took the top spot timing in at 1:54.57 more than two seconds ahead of the Hawks runner-ups. Llewellyn was also a winner in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly events as well as the 200-yard IM. She touched the wall at 2:14.16 with an impressive five seconds plus ahead of the Hartwick challenger in winning the 200 fly. She timed in at 1:00.09 in the 100 fly and touched out in 2:16.87 in the 200 IM. Greco won the 50-yard freestyle.
Dari was successful with a first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke timing in at 2:15.82. Carey found herself in the winner's circle securing a first place in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events with times of 1:10.67 and 2:36.38 respectively.
Senior Nicole Difillippo was a winner for the Red Dragons in one meter diving earning nine points for Oneonta.
The women will head down to Lancaster, PA and compete in the Franklin and Marshall Invitational through next weekend beginning on Friday, November 18th at 6 PM.
