The Red Dragons sweep the competition at the Dig Pink Invitational to improve to 16-15 on the season. The Red Dragons senior
Jessica Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson) earned a spot on the all-tournament team notching 61 assists in three games. In the tournament, the Red Dragons would only lose one set (27-25). The Red Dragons would out hit their opponents 116-93 in kills.
On the Friday match, the Red Dragons would take down Elmira College in three sets (25-23, 25-23, 26-24). The Red Dragons blocking was a key to their success out blocking Elmira 18-2. For the Red Dragons, seniors
Kassidy Kievit (Cincinnatus/Cincinnatus Central) and
Erika Corbin (Kirkwood/Windsor) led the blocking charge. Kievit would have a match high eight blocks with five kills and Corbin would have six blocks and a match high 13 kills.
On the second day of the tournament, the Red Dragons would drop the first set 27-25 and then win the next six sets on the day. On the day for the Red Dragons, junior
Melissa Voyer (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) would have 17 kills with 13 blocks. Corbin would add another 14 blocks and 13 kills to her season totals. All-tournament team member Pelaccio would have 35 assists in the two games.
The Red Dragons look to carry the momentum gained this past weekend into SUNYAC weekend where they are seeded No.2 overall. They will have a first round bye and will play the winner of Oswego vs. New Paltz. For more information on the tournament please visit
