The SUNY Oneonta women's swimming & diving team lost at home yesterday to the New Paltz Hawks by a score of 161.50 - 100.50. Â Leading Oneonta were senior
Taylor Waldrop (Fairport/Fairport) and freshman
Julia Llewellyn (East Islip/East Islip High School) who each won three events on the day.
Llewellyn started her day with a first place finish in the 200 yard butterfly in a time of 2:13.38 more than three seconds ahead of her rival from New Paltz.  Her time in the event set a new pool record for Oneonta.  She then picked up her second victory in the 100 yard butterfly timing in at 1:00.93. Her third individual win came in the 200 yard individual medley which was the last win on the day for the Red Dragons.Waldrop's first win came in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:25.64 more than 14 seconds ahead of the New Paltz runner-up.  Waldrop then won 100 yard backstroke touching the wall with a time of 1:02.62. Her third victory of the impressive afternoon was in 200 yard backstroke timing in at 2:14.11.
The women will host rival SUNY Cortland in the swimming style Battle of the Red Dragons next Saturday, January 30th at 1 PM in the Chase Physical Education Building Pool.
