Oneonta, NY  – The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis squad hosted the Union College Dutchwomen and lost a very tightly contested match 4-5 which closes out the 2014/15 season.

In doubles play the Red Dragon women dropped matches at the number one and three positions leaving it to the team of senior Kelly Gochan (Lake Grove/Sachem North) and freshman Samantha Felice (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) to gain the lone point in that portion of the competition.  The pair outlasted their opponents doubling them up with a score of 8-4.  The victory was Gochan's last win of her successful Red Dragon career.

Down 1-2 going into singles play senior Brynn Sussman (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) clinched her 50^th career win and the final victory of her record setting career with an impressive 6-3, 6-3 performance.  Junior Michelle Spencer (Homer/Homer) pulled out a very emotional hard fought battle at third singles when she prevailed 7-6, 2-6 and (10-5).  Spencer was mentally drained leaving every ounce of her energy out there for her last match of the season.   Also playing in their final career matches Gochan and senior Marina Salzano (Katonah/John Jay) bowed out gracefully along with senior Eliza Shilleto in the second, fourth and sixth positions respectfully.  Highlighting her first year on the women's tennis squad, junior Samantha Butcher's (Sidney/Sidney Central) closed out the spring 2015 campaign with 7-5, 1-6 (10-2) conquest in the number five spot.

The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis squad closes out the 2014/15 campaign losing four seniors to graduation.  The Red Dragon women will begin their 2015/16 season in August when they welcome in a talented group of young women recruits.
