Marlene Cuevas (Wappingers Falls/Roy C. Ketcham) powered the Red and White by hitting for the cycle.
Junior second baseman
Jamie Whittam (Saugerties/Saugerties) got the Red Dragons off to a positive start with a leadoff single to start the game. A bunt from sophomore third baseman Jenn Brocco moved Whittam to second. Cuevas made her first plate appearance with one on and two out in the inning. With a 2-0 count, she belted the ball to dead center field for a two-run home run.
Reigning SUNYC Pitcher of the Year, sophomore
Sabrina DeAngelis (East Meadow/Kellenberg Memorial), got the start in the circle sitting down the Gorloks' first five batters before Webster put together a five run third inning to take a 5-2 lead.

Katie O'Gorman (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) on first and one out in the top of the fourth inning, senior catcher
Brianna Rivera (Pomona/North Rockland) knocked in a run with a double to center field. In the bottom half of the frame, DeAngleis settled in and sat down the Gorloks in order.
Cuevas continued her work with empty bases and a pair of outs in the fifth smacking a 1-0 to right center for a double. The next at-bat brought her home when O'Gorman reached on an error.
Fast forward to the seventh inning, where the Red Dragons entered in a 6-4 deficit. Cuevas led off the inning with a single to short. Two batters later, Rivera took a 3-2 pitch and converted it into a double to center scoring O'Gorman from first base. With runners on the corners, senior
Nichole Paolino (Catskill/Catskill) entered as a pinch hitter to score Rivera on a sac fly. With the game now tied, the teams headed into extra innings under the lights.
Rookie outfielder
Ashley Lefebvre (Waterford/Waterford-Halfmoon) started the inning on second, and immediately stole third. Leading off the inning, Whittam knocked a single through the left side to score Lefebvre to give the Red and White the lead for the first time since the third inning; but they wouldn't stop there. Brocco singled to third, moving Whittam to second. Junior designated player
Traci Lichtenstein (Plainview/JFK) moved both runners with a sac fly to the right fielder before Cuevas came to the dish one last time. With the count 1-1, Cuevas launched the ball deep to right field rounding out the cycle and scoring both clearing the base path. O'Gorman would score Cuevas in the next at-bat with a single up the middle.
DeAngleis shut down the Webster offense in the bottom of the eighth to secure her first win of the year. She gave up seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits with a pair of walks and fanning seven.
Cuevas went 4-5 in the game knocking in a quartet of runs while scoring a trio of her own. Whittam registered three hits, scoring twice and knocking in one. O'Gorman and Rivera each recorded a pair of RBI.
FontbonneThe Red and White finished the night with a 2-1 loss to Fontbonne University. Oneonta had threatened early when right fielder
Meaghan Foster (Walden/Valley Central) reached on a fielder's choice that put Rivera on second and Cuevas on third, but could not convert the opportunity into runs. The Griffiths posted a run in each the second and third innings for which Foster responded by taking advantage of an error to cross the plate for the Red Dragons' only run. Senior pitcher
Rachel Hitt (Boonville/Adirondack Central) took the loss in a pitcher's dual as she gave up a pair of runs on five hits with three strikeouts and five walks. Whittam, O'Gorman, Rivera and Foster each registered on of Oneonta's four hits in the contest.
The Red Dragons are back in action in Minneola, Fla. when they play Sage at 3 pm and Bethany College at 5 pm.
