The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team hosted down state opponent Farmingdale Saturday afternoon on a chilly All College Field. The Red and White fell in the contest 13-11. Senior
Nikki Fioretti (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) and freshman
Taylor Casey (Garden City South/Kellenberg Memorial) led the Red Dragons offense with four goals and three goals respectively.
In a game that was tightly contested throughout, the Rams tallied the first two goals before Fioretti deposited her first goal of the contest. She buried a free position shot with just over a dozen minutes remaining in the opening frame to tie the contest at four. The midfielder took a feed from Casey exactly five minutes later to complete the hat trick. Â
Casey put herself on the score sheet with her 21
st goal of the season, this one a man-up goal from
Katie Flannery (Massapequa/Plainedge) with just over 10 minutes left in the first half. After scoring an unassisted goal midway through the second half, Casey and Flannery combined for the game's final goal with just shy of four minutes left to play.
Seniors
Nicole Boylan (Massapequa/Massapequa) and
Michelle Genovese (West Islip/West Islip) and juniors
Catherine Clark (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) and
Randal Cook (Northport/Northport) each met twine in the game.
The Red and White outshot the visitors 33-22 on the day while corralling eight more ground balls.
The Red Dragons sit at 1-5, and return to All College Field against Keene State on Tuesday in a 5:00 pm contest.
