A dominating second half by the SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team lifted them to a 17-7 victory against Scranton today in its home opener. Senior
Jillian Donodeo (Holbrook/Sachem East) and rookie
Taylor Casey (Garden City South/Kellenberg Memorial) combined for 11 goals in leading the attack for the Red Dragons. Donodeo tied a career high with six goals while Casey continues to tear it up through her first four collegiate games.

Casey, who was held scoreless in the first half, got Oneonta (1-3) off and running in the second half with three consecutive goals in the first six minutes. Casey's five-goal performance brought her to 16 goals this season, which leads the team. Donodeo is second with 13 goals.

For the third straight game, Oneonta scored in the opening minute, as junior
Catherine Clark (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) took a pass from senior
Nicole Boylan (Massapequa/Massapequa) before depositing the ball into the back of the net.

Back-to-back goals from Emily Goss and Erin Allen gave Scranton (2-3) its first lead of the game. The Red Dragons countered with a pair of its own, as Donodeo tallied quickly to give Oneonta the lead back 3-2 less than nine minutes in.

Meghan Kerr and Dana Siepietowski registered back-to-back scores for the Royals, as they took its last lead of the contest at 4-3.

Oneonta then ran off 10 unanswered including three consecutive goals to end the first half, as the Red Dragons seized control of the game en route to the lopsided victory.

Clark would finish the game with three goals and a pair of assists for Oneonta.

Goss and Kerr led Scranton with two goals each.

Freshman
Autumn Moore (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) made five saves and picked up her first collegiate win in goal for the Red Dragons.

Oneonta outshot Scranton in the game, 36-17, including 20-8 in the second half. The Royals held a 14-11 advantage in draw controls.

Oneonta will be at Ithaca College this Wednesday for a non-conference game beginning at 4pm.
