For the second straight game, the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team led wire to wire, as they picked up a 67-54 victory against SUNY Potsdam.  Sophomore Cara Adams (Attleboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) led the way for the Red Dragons with a career high 20 points.  The win for Oneonta also completed a weekend sweep of SUNYAC contests.
 
Adams got Oneonta (13-7, 8-5 SUNYAC) off and running with the first five points of the game.  Junior Caysea Cohen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) capped the opening 8-0 run by draining a three-pointer.  Cohen finished the contest in double figures with 13 points to go with six assists and a pair of steals.
 
The Red Dragons led by as many as 12 points in the first half and led 31-23 at halftime.
 
In the second half, Potsdam (1-19, 0-13 SUNYAC) kept within striking distance thanks to the shooting of senior Carli Reynolds.  Reynolds buried a couple of key three-pointers including one at the 9:34 mark that cut the deficit to three points at 45-42.
 
The two teams exchanged runs before Oneonta began to pull away, converting 7-of-8 free throws during the final 1:10.
 
Oneonta finished the game with a rebounding advantage of 40-23 including 22-8 off the offensive glass.  The Red Dragons also made 15-of-16 free throws.
 
Joining Reynolds in double figures for Potsdam was junior Katie LaVoie who scored 15 points.
 
The women will journey to SUNY Cortland on Tuesday night to face its rival Red Dragons.  The game is scheduled for a 7:30pm tipoff.
