The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team received 19 points and 10 rebounds from junior Lyteshia Price (Liverpool/Liverpool), but fell short on the road tonight to New Paltz 59-54.  The loss for the Red Dragons dropped them to 11-7 overall and 6-5 in the SUNYAC while the win for the Hawks put them at 12-6 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
 
New Paltz led early, 9-2, before seven unanswered by Oneonta knotted the game for the first time with just 12 minutes to go in the opening stanza.  Price converted a pair of free throws to tie the game.
 
After the two teams exchanged three-pointers, Oneonta added four more points to take its first lead of the game at 16-12.  Baskets by junior Bryn Loomis (Norwich/Norwich) and freshman Jillian Davis (Queensbury/Queensbury) put the Red Dragons ahead.
 
A three by Price broke a 20-20 tie with a little more than four minutes left in the half.  The Hawks would counter with the final 10 points of the first half to take a 30-23 lead into the break.
 
In the first five minutes of the second half, the Hawks increased its lead to 11 points on a pair of free throws by Kit Small.
 
Oneonta stormed back with eight straight points to cut its deficit to three points, capped by a layup from junior Caysea Cohen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville).
 
A jumper by Small would give New Paltz its largest lead at 53-41 with just under six minutes to play.
 
Oneonta battled back and a three by Price with 2:03 remaining brought Oneonta to within three points at 57-54.  Shannan Walker iced the game for the Hawks with a pair of free throws with 18 seconds left.
 
Joining Price in double figures tonight for Oneonta was senior Sarah Longto (Kingston/Kingston) who had 12 points to go with four blocks.
