The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team defeated the visiting Plattsburgh Cardinals tonight 58-57 in the quarterfinals of the SUNYAC tournament. Oneonta (16-10) will now play top-seeded SUNY Geneseo this Friday night in the semifinals.

Oneonta, who is making its 24
th tournament appearance all-time, advances past the quarterfinals for the first time in three years. They will play in their 14
th semifinal round all time, their first since 2012 when they won the conference title.

With four minutes to go in the contest, Plattsburgh (12-14) senior Misha Green converted 1-of-2 free throws to tie the game at 52-52.

Lyteshia Price (Liverpool/Liverpool) put the Red Dragons ahead with 3:44 left. Price had a huge night for Oneonta, leading all scorers in the game with 21 points. Price also collected eight rebounds and four assists.

On Plattsburgh's next possession, Green was blocked inside by Longto who then grabbed the rebound. On the other end, Longto took a pass from junior
Caysea Cohen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) and made a layup to put Oneonta up by four points with 3:14 to go.

After senior Brittany Marshall made 1-of-2 free throws, freshman
Samantha Lisikatos (Cold Spring/Haldane) made a driving basket as the shot clock expired to put Oneonta ahead 58-53 with 2:06 remaining.

Allie Taylor made a layup to cut the lead to three points with 44 seconds to go. Taylor was fouled but missed the free throw.

After an Oneonta turnover, Green converted a layup off an assist from Marshall to close the gap to one point with seven seconds remaining. Green would finish the game with 12 points.

Plattsburgh had one last possession with two seconds left on the clock, but they turned the ball over as time expired.

Oneonta held a decided advantage on the boards, 43-28, led by Longto who collected nine rebounds. Longto also added seven points and five blocks.

With the score tied at eight apiece, Plattsburgh ran off six unanswered to take a 14-8 lead. Taylor made a layup off an assist from Marshall. Taylor led all scorers in the first half with 11 points. She finished the game with 17 points.

The Cardinals continued to build its lead to as many as 13 points before Oneonta made a closing run to cut its deficit to 30-29 at the break. The Red Dragons scored the last eight points of the half that included back-to-back three-pointers by junior
Lyteshia Price (Liverpool/Liverpool). Price finished the half with 10 points to lead Oneonta.
