The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team dropped a pair of road games at Brockport and SUNY Geneseo this weekend. The Red Dragons fell to Brockport, 60-54, last night while losing to Geneseo 65-52 this afternoon.

In last night's defeat to Brockport, Oneonta (13-10, 8-8 SUNYAC) shot 25 percent in the second half and the Golden Eagles converted 14 Oneonta turnovers into 21 points in taking the win.

Last night's game was close throughout with neither team being able to pull away from the other. The game had eight lead changes and was tied on nine occasions.

Brockport held a 20-14 lead after a Faith Welch three-pointer with 7:20 remaining in the opening half. The Red Dragons continued to battle and regained the lead, 26-25, on a jumper by senior
Sarah Longto (Kingston/Kingston) with 3:14 left. Oneonta took a slim 29-28 lead into the break.

Five unanswered points for Brockport broke at 38-38 tie, as they took a 43-38 lead with 10:02 remaining. They continued to hold the lead until an 8-0 run by the Red Dragons gave them the lead back at 48-45 at the 5:49 mark.

The game was tied for the last time at 50 apiece with 4:32 left before a 9-1 run by the Golden Eagles during the next three minutes gave them the cushion they needed to secure victory.

Longto led Oneonta with 14 points while collecting nine boards. Sophomore
Cara Adams (Attleboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) came off the bench to score 11 points while junior
Bryn Loomis (Norwich/Norwich) grabbed a team high 10 rebounds.

In today's game against Geneseo, Oneonta jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead thanks to three-pointers by juniors
Lyteshia Price (Liverpool/Liverpool) and
Caysea Cohen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville). The Red Dragons still held an eight-point lead, 19-11, at the 11:53 mark of the opening half before the Knights ran off eight unanswered to tie the score at 19 apiece.

Geneseo came back to tie the game again at 26 apiece before taking a 28-26 lead at halftime.

In the opening five minutes of the second half, Geneseo pushed its lead to 10 points at 38-28 on the strength of 10-2 run. The Knights led by 14 points with just over 12 minutes to go in the game. Oneonta cut its deficit to single digits twice, the final time coming at the 9:13 mark on a three-pointer by freshman
Tyra Harrison (Baldwin/Baldwin).

The Knights pushed its lead back to double digits over the next four minutes enroute to the 13-point victory.

Price and Longto each scored 11 points to lead Oneonta.

The Red Dragons will end the regular season at home next weekend when they host Fredonia on Friday and Buffalo State on Saturday. Oneonta is still battling for its seeding for the conference tournament, which starts Tuesday, Feb. 24.
