Three players reached double figures led by senior
Lyteshia Price (Liverpool/Liverpool) and junior
Cara Adams (Attleboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) who each scored 17 points, as the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team held back the visiting Plattsburgh Cardinals this afternoon 72-61.

Leading 51-50 at the start of the fourth quarter, Oneonta (4-2/2-0 SUNYAC) outscored Plattsburgh (4-2/0-2 SUNYAC), 21-11 to pull away. A 12-2 run at the beginning of the quarter created the breathing room that the Red Dragons needed. Price scored five points and classmate
Caitlin Cariseo (Syracuse/Jamesville Dewitt) added four of her season high 11 points to fuel the run.

Oneonta collected 12 steals in the game and turned 19 Cardinal turnovers into 21 points. The Red Dragons also scored 14 second chance points and 22 points in the paint. Oneonta finished the game with nine three-pointers and never trailed.

The Cardinals had three players in double figures led by senior Devona Paul who scored a game high 20 points to go with nine boards. Classmate Allie Taylor added 15 points and nine rebounds while junior Jax Miller scored 10 points.

Oneonta jumped out quickly in the first quarter scoring the game's first eight points. The opening spurt was powered by a pair of three-pointers, as freshman
Madeline Frank (Syracuse/Jamesville-Dewitt) and junior
Cara Adams (Attleboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) each buried one from behind the arc. Adams would make four three-pointers in the quarter to help lead Oneonta to a 25-17 lead at the end of the opening stanza.

The two teams combined for 31 points in the second quarter with a slight, 16-15, edge for Plattsburgh. A couple of short runs allowed the Cardinals to pull within one point with 4:30 remaining in the quarter, but Oneonta closed the quarter with a 9-2 spurt to carry a 40-33 lead into halftime.

The Red Dragons were able to push its lead to seven points twice during the third quarter, but Plattsburgh would counter to close the deficit back to one point at 51-50 at the end of the stanza.

The women will not play again until Monday, Dec. 14 when they host Manhattanville at 7pm.
