The SUNY Oneonta volleyball team fell to Cortland, 3-0 (27-29, 15-25, 15-25), in the first round of the SUNYAC volleyball championship Friday night.
Oneonta (18-14), the fourth seed, was led by
Jill Darpino (Endicott/Union Endicott)'s eight kills, along with seven kills each by
Paige Carpluk (Yaphank/Bellport) and
Kristen Polan (Westhampton/Westhampton Beach).
Erika Corbin (Kirkwood/Windsor) ended with five blocks and
Allyson Coniglione (Glenville/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) had 16 digs.
Oneonta's best opportunity came in the first set when they had a 24-20 lead over Cortland; but the Red Dragons couldn't post the winning point. Oneonta ended up losing the set 29-27.
Oneonta ended its season 18-14 overall.
