Oswego, NY - The SUNY Oneonta women's swimming and diving team were overcome by the SUNY Oswego Lakers in their first dual meet of the season today by a score of 133-107.
The Red Dragon women did get off to a great start winning the 200-yard medley relay, which was the first event of the day. Â Senior
Taylor Waldrop (Fairport/Fairport), junior Nicole Difilippo, freshman
Julia Llewellyn (East Islip/East Islip High School) and sophomore
Kylie Loforte (Farmington/Canandaigua Academy ) had a time of 1:55.71, which was almost a full four seconds ahead of the Oswego State challengers.
Sophomore
Hannah Dari (Piermont/Clarkstown South) also was successful as she was a winner in the 1000 yard freestyle. Dari's time was equally impressive as she finished ahead of the Oswego runner-up by by over 46 seconds. Â
Dari would also be victorious for a second time in the 100 yard backstroke. Llewellyn found the winner's circle for a second time on the day, as she was victorious in the 200 yard individual medley. Her time of 2:20.83 was almost nine seconds ahead of the Lakers runner-up.
Waldrop joined Llewellyn as a two time winner as well, as she won the 100 yard freestyle touching the wall with a time of 56.93.
Waldrop was again triumphant in the 500 yard freestyle making it the third win for her on the day with a time of 5:42.92 almost four seconds ahead of the Oswego runner-up making it a very close race between the two rivals. Waldrop's win added another nine points for the Red Dragons. However, that was the final success for the Red Dragons today.
The SUNY Oneonta women will have almost two weeks to prepare as they travel to the College of St. Rose for a meet on Friday, November 6th beginning at 7:30 PM.
