Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's basketball turns away Brockport 64-48

Big second half lifts Red Dragons

A 40-point second half by the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball erased a two-point halftime deficit, as the Red Dragons prevailed at home today against Brockport 64-48.  Junior Caysea Cohen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) led the second half surge scoring 15 of her team high 18 points in the half.

After shaking off some early cobwebs where Oneonta (8-3, 3-2 SUNYAC) fell behind early 6-0, the Red Dragons began to settle in.  A lay up by sophomore Sara DiPasquale (Buffalo, NY/Cardinal O'Hara) at the 12:14 mark got Oneonta to within two points at 13-11.

Brockport (2-8, 0-3 SUNYAC) countered with a quick five points capped by a three-pointer from freshman Alyssa Rusinko.

Back-to-back jumpers by freshman Jillian Davis (Queensbury/Queensbury) tied the game at 20 apiece at the 4:25 mark.  Davis finished the game with six points off the bench, as Oneonta's reserves outscored Brockport's 24-6.

The Golden Eagles took a 26-24 lead into halftime led by junior Olivia Suhr's 13 points.  Suhr led all scorers in the contest with 21 points.

Back-to-back baskets by DiPasquale and a three by Cohen capped a 10-0 run that gave Oneonta the lead for good six minutes into the second half.  The Red Dragons put the game away with an 11-0 run late in the game.

Junior Lyteshia Price (Liverpool/Liverpool) was the other Red Dragon in double figures today with 10 points.  She also collected a career high seven steals.

DiPasquale led Oneonta's reserves with seven points.

Oneonta will be back in action again this coming Thursday at home versus New Paltz beginning at 6pm.
