Seven goals in the fourth quarter leads Red Dragons to victory

The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team scored seven fourth quarter goals to rally for a come-from-behind, 11-9, victory today at home versus Brockport in the SUNYAC opener for both squads.  Senior Daniel Stern scored all three of his goals in the final quarter to lead the charge, as the Red Dragons move to 3-7 overall.  The loss for Brockport dropped them to 3-5 overall.

Trailing 7-4 at the end of three quarters, sophomore Connor Coyle cut Brockport's lead to a pair of goals with an unassisted tally just 16 seconds into the fourth quarter.  Coyle finished the game with a team-high four goals.

Just over one minute later, the Golden Eagles went back up by three goals when John Countryman scored off an assist from Steve Brissette at 13:26.

Oneonta then seized the momentum with five unanswered goals over the next eight minutes to grab a 10-8 lead with 5:26 remaining in the game.  Junior Anthony Laureano got things rolling with an unassisted goal at 11:36 and Stern capped the run with his second goal of the quarter off an assist from freshman Robert Neubert III 5:26.

An unassisted goal by Bryon Palmer brought Brockport one goal closer until Stern's final goal of the game sealed the win with 48 seconds to go in the game.

Brockport opened the game with three unanswered goals before Laureano notched his first of the game with five minutes to go in the first quarter.

Coyle and classmate Michael Metzger scored back-to-back to start the second quarter to tie the game at 3-3.

Justin Cook scored a man-up goal to put the Golden Eagles ahead 4-3.  Palmer scored with three seconds remaining in the second quarter to give Brockport a 5-3 lead heading into the break.
