A goal post was all that stood in the way of a game-tying goal, as the SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team lost a tough, 7-6, decision to Elizabethtown at home.  Sophomore Devon Casey took a feed from senior Daniel Stern and rifled a shot that hit the left post and deflected out where Elizabethtown was able to secure the ground ball, but then turned it over as they were trying to kill the clock.  The Red Dragons had one final shot by Stern, but it went wide with two seconds remaining.  The Blue Jays were awarded the ball and sent the ball long to the other end of the field as time expired.

Elizabethtown (3-2) was in control early, as they built themselves a 3-0 lead entering the second quarter.  Russ LeClair, Joe Clark and Tucker Keefer all scored for the Blue Jays, who converted on five shots in the opening 15 minutes.

In the second quarter, the two teams exchanged goals for a halftime score of 4-1 in favor of the Blue Jays.  Stern scored for Oneonta (1-5) to get the Red Dragons on the scoreboard with six seconds to go in the quarter.

After a goal by Jimmy Waters at 9:34 of the third quarter gave the Blue Jays a 5-1 lead, the momentum shifted to Oneonta, as they ripped off four straight goals over span of 3:31 to tie the game at 5-5.

Sophomore Connor Coyle got things rolling with an unassisted goal at 8:13.  He was followed eight seconds later by junior Anthony Laureano, who won the faceoff and went right to the goal where he put a shot by the goalie to make the score 5-3.

Then it was sophomore Kevin Theofield who scored back-to-back goals to complete the comeback for Oneonta.  Casey, who got the ball to Theofield on a restart after a failed clear by the Blue Jays, assisted Theofield's second goal.

Keefer and Waters scored back-to-back within a minute of each other to put Elizabethtown back up by a pair of goals entering the fourth quarter.

The lone goal in the fourth quarter was scored unassisted by sophomore Michael Metzger, who brought Oneonta one goal closer to 7-6.

Oneonta is in action next this coming Wednesday when they host Ithaca College beginning at 4pm.
