Junior point guard Caysea Cohen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) scored a team high 20 points to lead the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team to a 62-52 victory against Moravian on the final day of the 2014 Oneonta Holiday Inn Classic hosted by Hartwick College.  The win for the Red Dragons gave them the title while giving them its third straight win after dropping its season opener last Saturday.
 
Oneonta made seven baskets from behind the arc today and they also outrebounded Moravian (3-2) 49-38 including 16 offensive rebounds.  Junior Caitlin Cariseo (Syracuse/Jamesville Dewitt) pulled down a career high 13 boards to go with six points.
 
Senior Sarah Longto (Kingston/Kingston) had a solid all-around game with four points, seven boards, a team high five assists, three blocks and four steals.
 
Oneonta led again today from the opening tip.  In the first three minutes of the game, the Red Dragons jumped out to a 13-2 lead after a Cariseo jumper.
 
Moravian cut the lead back to four points on two occasions in the opening half, but a 19-10 closing run over the final 9:31 gave Oneonta a comfortable 40-27 lead at halftime.
 
Moravian asserted itself in the second half and kept chipping away at Oneonta's lead.  When Alexis Wright made a layup at the 6:18 mark, Oneonta's lead was only two points at 48-46.
 
Oneonta still led 55-52 after a jumper by Moravian's Alesha Marcks, but that would be it for them, as the Red Dragons scored the final seven points of the game in the final 1:22 for the final margin of victory.
 
Oneonta will be off until Tuesday, Dec 2 when they will host city rival Hartwick at 6pm.
